The company stated its intent to move Rocket League to the Epic Games Store at that time, and going free-to-play is in keeping with the success of Epic’s massively popular Fortnite. The move away from loot boxes came shortly after Psyonix was purchased by Epic Games in May of last year. While an improvement over standard loot boxes, this system is still less than ideal and made Rocket League feel like a free-to-play game long before today’s announcement that it will officially become one. While the core gameplay of driving cars really fast and smashing a giant ball into a net to score points remains the same, Rocket League has undergone a number of other changes during that time, including switching from randomised loot boxes to a blueprint system in which players can pay money toward the specific cosmetics they want to customise their vehicles. The surprise hit originally came out on PC via Steam and on PS4 as a free game for PlayStation Plus subscribers. ![]() The news comes just after Rocket League passed its five-year anniversary earlier this month. Psyonix says the free-to-play update will also bring changes to how the game’s tournaments and reward challenges work, as well as give existing players some bonus cosmetics. And even though the game will no longer be available to new players on Steam, those who already own the game there will still be able to launch and play it from within the Steam client. As part of the free-to-play update, Rocket League (which currently sells for around $28) will finally support cross-platform progression by tying player inventories and competitive rankings to a unified Epic Games Account. ![]()

The printer ink cartridges are easy to find-especially when you shop at Walmart Canada-and are quite simple to replace. Modern inkjet printers can deliver some exceptional quality not only when printing documents, but when printing photos as well. Inkjet printers offer many advantages that are worth considering if you are in the market for a printer. Inkjet printers: print photos and documents From budget models you only need to use occasionally, to professional models that hold up to heavy use in an office setting, we have options that will suit your specific needs. Fortunately, you can find great deals on printers and scanners at Walmart Canada. We may live in a digital world, but there are still times when a hard copy is required or more convenient. And if you have a home office or a small business, there is no question that a multifunctional printer is needed. I also checked for stippling an image error that occurs on poorly calibrated inkjet printers.Whether it's a favourite recipe, a family picture, or another document, it can be helpful to have a printer and scanner at home, so you can skip the visit to the print shop. Chromatic abrasion is a purple hue that often surrounds images and can make even the best picture look cheap and tacky. I took special note of the skin tones at the bottom to make sure they were replicated correctly and I also checked for chromatic abrasion. I printed images on the same Canon glossy paper and studied them according to the guidelines associated with this industry standard. Picture quality testĪs in previous CNET photo tests, I used the PhotoDisc Target file for my image tests. Most scanners will enhance the image you're scanning, and that certainly helps with receipts. I used a mixture of new receipts and ones that had faded in my wallet, then I checked the scan for legibility. To re-create that, I taped my receipts from my food shopping to create a scan. That way you can email them wherever they need to go quickly and easily. One of the most common ways to do that, if you aren't lucky enough to have an app, is to tape receipts to a piece of paper and scan them into your computer. When you work from home, you often have to submit your receipts for travel and incidentals. ![]() I even added Comic Sans to the mix, because some people still think it's a good idea to use it. I also used different fonts, like Arial and Times New Roman, to see how they'd print. ![]() I used Fillerama to generate random text from Star Wars and Monty Python and changed the font size randomly across the page. Testing this is easy I simply used a stopwatch and printed 10 pages of text of varying sizes and typefaces. Printing a quick theater ticket or copying a document needs to be done speedily and accurately. The speed at which things print and copy is important in our daily lives. I designed a new set of printing parameters in 2022 that I hope will mesh with how we use printers nowadays. These days, Wi-Fi is standard, app-controlled printers are everywhere, and what and how we print have changed considerably. Our original testing was designed in the days when Wi-Fi printers were rare, and faxing was an important consideration when choosing a device. For a long time, CNET's methodology for testing printers didn't change. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Whether you choose local or cloud-based, BLC’s user-friendly dashboard and powerful features makes staying on top of broken links as easy and automated as possible. ![]() Edit links directly from your interface, without manually updating each post.Search and filter links by URL, anchor text and more.Prevent search engines from following broken links (optional).Make broken links display differently in posts (optional).Receive notifications via your dashboard or email.Detects broken links, missing images, and redirects.Monitors external links and internal links in your posts, pages, comments, the blogroll, and custom fields (optional). Here are the standout features of the local link checking engine: It also uses your site’s IP address, which as mentioned above, increases your risk of being blocked by some external links, resulting in incomplete or inaccurate scan results. My podcast projects in Timery have the same names of the podcast sessions in Audio Hijack. The latest version of the amazing Audio Hijack by Rogue Amoeba (which I’ve used for years to record my microphone’s input as well as a backup recording of Skype/Zoom/Discord calls) comes with a new Scripting section that you can access from the right sidebar of a recording session. Kolide: Endpoint Security Powered by People Try for Free! So for this week’s Automation April story, I’m sharing the custom system I created to trigger a single shortcut that starts time tracking in Timery based on the show I’m recording in that specific moment. Wouldn’t it be great if there was One True Way to automatically start tracking my real recording time when I start talking into the microphone for a show?Īs it turns out, thanks to the latest update to Audio Hijack – the new version 4.0 that recently launched on macOS – there is. I could automatically start a timer when a calendar event for a show is due in my calendar, but that also doesn’t work for me since it doesn’t account for the time before we actually record the show when I may be chatting privately with Myke and Stephen. These tasks distract me from time tracking and, as a result, I often forget to start a timer for when I begin recording and, conversely, stop the timer when I’m done. You see, when I sit down to record a show like Connected or AppStories, I need to take care of key tasks such as making sure my audio inputs are correct, checking out notes for the show’s outline and intro, and keeping an eye on the Connected audience in Relay’s Discord server. The approach worked well for MacStories and the Club, but podcast timers turned out to be a different beast. How I access my saved timers from the Home Screen. I split my work projects into three main areas – MacStories, Club, and podcasts – removed redundant sub-tasks, and grouped related activities under the same tags for more reliable filtering. I cleaned up my saved timers and shortcut that activates those timers, which I can now trigger system-wide via Raycast on the Mac and the Shortcuts widgets on iPad. ![]() So I went back to the drawing board of my Timery projects and reorganized everything with simplicity and ease of activation in mind. There’s also the opposite problem – forgetting to stop a long-running timer – which John explained and fixed in a separate story for Automation April. For time tracking to be effective, you need to remember to start a timer whenever you’re working on something too much friction in the process – such as having to carefully pick from a list of similar projects – defeats the whole purpose of it. ![]() My daily routine is different now – and it’ll continue to change in 2022 – and I wanted to get rid of the overhead caused by a time tracking system that was too granular. I appreciate the insights into my habits and patterns afforded by time tracking and Timery’s excellent Reports view, but lately I’ve felt like my setup with projects, tags, and sub-tasks was too convoluted since it was based on a structure I designed years ago. For the past week, I’ve been rethinking my approach to time tracking with the Timery app with a focus on simplicity and automation. ![]() ![]() ![]() The gun can be reloaded by pressing “r” or the player can double click the left mouse button. Chords mode provides single-pad triggering of chords (predefined by NI, which can’t be changed). Keyboard mode provides chromatic play (or within a selected scale) of the last pad touched. Pad mode provides regular playback at the root pitch of a sound. There are now four dedicated Pad Input Mode buttons, conveniently located above the pads. Formerly, macro mapping wasn’t possible to configure from the hardware controller.Įxisting Maschinists would know, changing between the different pad play modes is one of the most frequently used functions, and most of them require modifier keys to access. This allows contextual tag browsing of the library in addition to rapid mapping of parameters to Sound/Group/Master Macros by simply touching the encoders for parameters you wish to map. In a first for Maschine hardware, the encoders are now touch-sensitive. These should last the distance even in the hands of the roughest handler. Unlike previous hardware, the encoders under the displays are chassis-mounted and feel rock-solid with no lateral play. Some may compare Ableton’s Push 2 with Maschine MkIII, however, while some aesthetics of Push 2 may have infiltrated design decisions, Maschine MkIII’s hardware feels a touch better. Everything about the MkIII control surface feels superior to its predecessors. The function buttons are less ‘in your face’ with backlighting that makes the text glow, leaving the button black. The pads are larger and have better sensitivity towards the corners playing rolls with multiple fingers on a single pad is a joy. It combines the joy of Maschine Studio’s luxurious displays, a built-in audio interface, an overhaul of its function button layout and a build quality superior to its predecessors. It’s the first significant departure from the original function button layout, so-much-so that for the first few minutes of use I had to re-train my muscle memory before my Maschine dexterity returned. ![]() Having spent lengthy periods with every Maschine incarnation to date, Maschine MkIII is completely stunning, not just in terms of cosmetics but also functionality. Notably, all Maschine hardware dating back to 2009 is still 100% supported by the latest builds of the software, a real achievement on NI’s part. Although covered in modifier buttons the Maschine software began to outgrow its software shell and having a layout consistent with the original hardware no longer made sense. Over a nine-year period, NI evolved the software back-end of Maschine, incrementally adding new features and substantial improvements. In 2016 a ‘sidecar’ iteration appeared - Maschine Jam - lacking any kind of displays, but with a user interface focused on on-the-fly step sequencing and touch strips that provide easy mixing, lock states and playing notes via strumming. ![]() ![]() Although it provided the bling experience (with a price to match), its release predated key features, later introduced in the Maschine software, creating a clear application for one-to-one function buttons. The full-colour, high-resolution displays provided a graphic-rich means of navigating the browser, a proper mixer and Mix window, and a DAW-like piano roll presentation of the step sequencer. The substantially larger chassis allowed for more relaxed button spacing and additional shortcut buttons. Maschine Studio appeared in 2013 delivering the roomier ‘Business Class’ Maschine experience. NI released Maschine MkII a few years later with a better build quality, the monochrome displays were backlit, and the buttons/pads received coloured backlighting with a more reassuring ‘click’ to the function buttons. Because its software was written to exploit the control surface, it truly excelled at getting musicians away from their computers and focusing on the music. Instead of dealing with proprietary, cantankerous disk formats, file management was no different to everyday file storage. Instead of MB of RAM for sample storage you had GB of RAM in your computer. When Maschine (MkI) hit the scene back in 2009, it was a revolution - it delivered a hardware MPC-style experience powered by any BYO computer technology of the day you partnered with it. ![]() ![]() They have 5 levels and include both covered (Levels 1-4) and uncovered (Level 5) parking spots. This game appeared in stores seven months after its predecessor. The new Superbike 2001 fully sticks to this clich'. Those novelties mostly came down to updated info on sportsmen/vehicles/championships, and rarely some new options.
